Build an FHA

Create the FHA table in System Analysis, then add failure conditions, phase-specific features, and effects.

Create the table

  1. Open the System Analysis layer.
  2. Right-click MBSA Package.
  3. Select New Diagram / Table... > FHA.

See the FHA table reference for the hierarchy.

Add a failure condition

  1. Right-click the function affected by the failure condition.
  2. Select Create new Failure condition.
  3. Double-click the Label cell to enter a label.
  4. Double-click the Failure Type cell, select the right side of the cell, and choose a configured failure type.
  5. Double-click the Name cell and enter the failure-condition name.

Automatic label generation replaces labels

To generate labels, right-click a failure-condition icon in the project tree and select ATICA_MBSA > Generate Labels. To generate labels for multiple failure conditions, place them in an MBSA System Package and run the command on that package. Generation deletes all existing labels before creating new ones.

Add a phase and stakeholder effect

  1. Double-click the Phase of flight cell for the failure condition.
  2. Under Description per phase, select the green + to create a flight-phase description.
  3. In the Failure Condition Feature dialog, select the three-dot button next to Modes and choose the phase.
  4. Under Failure Effects, select the green +.
  5. In the Failure Condition Effect dialog, select the affected entity.
  6. Enter the effect in Effect Description.
  7. In the FHA table, assign the appropriate Severity to the flight phase and failure condition.

Add assumptions and safety studies

An assumption or safety study can be associated with an entity effect, a flight phase, or the failure condition.

  1. Double-click the applicable Assumption or Safety Study cell.
  2. Open the ATICA_MBSA tab.
  3. To create an entry, select the green +, provide a reference name, and enter its content in Value.
  4. To reuse an existing entry, select the three-dot button and choose it.

Delete an entry

Right-click the failure condition or phase and select Delete Line.
